Antenna For challenger
« on: October 19, 2015 - 03:55:33 AM »
Hi guys,

I have one question about antenna. :clueless: :1zhelp:

Originally the challenger came with hidden antenna?
or antenna fixed on fender?
or power antenna fixed on fender?

If it was an option, what is the code on fender plate?

Thanks friends!

If I recall there was no power option for E bodies. They were on the right front fender unless the car was a TA, then right rear fender.  I'm not sure, but I think the E bodies had 31" fixed mast antennas in 1970. Hopefully, someone will have more info.

Mounted on the fender unless it's a T/A Challenger as stated.

No, if they had an antenna, it would be a solid mast, non-power mounted on the fender.

ONLY IF the car was ordered with a radio. NO radio ordered = NO antenna.

Looking back at pictures of my 71 that I bought new, it has an extendable 3 section mast. I thought the fixed mast came in 72 with the change in body.

That was always my belief too. Extendable for '70 and '71, fixed for the other years.

My '70 Challenger R/T is an original unrestored car with an AM/8 track and a 31" fixed mast antenna. A mechanic friend used to dealer prep these cars when new and said they all had fixed mast antennas and he has never seen an E body with a telescopic antenna from the factory. I've seen other online sites debating the antenna question with no clear answer. The E bodies I've seen at shows with telescopic antennas, the owners say they replaced the originals or are not sure what was on the car in the first place. The original cars I've seen at shows all had fix mast antennas. Does anybody know for sure?
