Holley Hydramat worth a second look....

When Holley's hydramat was introduced at SEMA in 2014 everyone was excited about what the product could do for EFI applications..... Then Holley announced the price & it was so outrageous the buzz changed from how cool the product is to how insane the price is....

Well the original 14x30 mat started at $699.... And for a race team it was probably a good solution since they mostly spend sponsor money & not their own...  But for the average car guy thats a little hard to swallow...

Well 18 months later Holley has expanded their lineup & most of the products are a lot more acceptable price wise.... For example I ordered a 15x3 Hydramat through Summit for $149..... 

I'd been looking a surge tanks & other pick up options but since seeing the Holley demo I kept coming back to the Hydramat, well I'm happy to report it's now a viable option....

In my application yes, it eliminates the need for baffling, you still need a way to mount a pump... Either a high pressure in tank pump or a small low pressure pump feeding a high pressure pump....

My application is my dog hauler so it has no bearing on Mopars... But the Hydramat certainly does...

IMO, not my favorite option. I think if no one made a tank with baffles for your application this would be a nice option. I like the Tanks Inc gas tank the best for an EFI swap. With the Holley mat, while you do save some money you still have the old tank and using a product I may or may not trust long term.

A 15"x3" piece won't reach anything in our tanks. We would need a big X that reaches a four corners of the e-body tank. I'm would also want it not to move around with fuel sloshing back and forth. That is the only one that I would spend $150 on it.

I did some research it says on their website that GM has been using this technology  on their fuel pumps  since the  early 80s and Holley just made a bigger  model of it .

 I just found it on the web 2 weeks ago but right now I am on a 6 Hour Road trip so if somebody can look that up and post it, it should be easy to find.
