Solution to the butterflies; Make them the official cc.com logo, and we all put them on our cars!

Killer Car , awesome score  :2thumbs:
The Tuff wheel doesn't bother me maybe they should have been offered by the factory , they are a small diameter & make it easier to get in & out of the car at least , & you couild keep the original wheel on the shelf in perfect condition , I would lose the tires BFG are not good ever .
It is your ride & you have to do what feels right to you .
 Congrats  :clapping:

My  :2cents: Lose the decals and the butterflies. I am a bit biased as I remove all nomenclature when I can.

Just got a very exciting call from the original owners son. They were digging through some old paper work and found the build sheet for the Challenger!!! He's going to mail it to me later this week. How cool is that?

You scored a really nice, mostly original Challenger RT.

Getting the build sheet was another score.

I would try to lose the butterflys- couldn't deal with that on my quarters on a daily basis.

Some good suggestions made: I would try to gently compound them out

Spend your time and money making the engine look more original

Anything this original is worth putting the effort in to maintain originality.

Just my thoughts.

Maintaining and Preserving originality are my first concerns. I am still considering what to do with the quarters. The car is a local "Legend" that everybody knows when they see it. Removing the decals and butterflies WITHOUT damaging the paint underneath is the challenge. IF I sand through the paint and have to paint the quarters there goes "ORIGINAL PAINT" because touching it up and matching the hue would be difficult if not impossible. The engine compartment and interior are first on the winter project list. For now the outside is not a priority.

Look at it this way by removing the add-ons you are not taking anything away from the originality that was there. It is not original to the car. Only the former owners. If you have to repaint the quarter it would be like restoring a painting or a statue. Returning it to original is what you would be doing.

I like this rationale

Lots of opinions, everybody has one.  It is your car.  Drive it, enjoy it.  You decide.  Give it some time but see what you want the car to be.  Drive the car for yourself, not for the "club" or what the internet commandos tell you it should be.  This isn't a cheerocracy, it's a dictatorship!

I knew the plum crazy 70 Hemicuda convertible with the wild 70s mexican boat flake paint job as a kid.  It is now changed, but hey, his car, his rules.  Still a great car.  I would have kept it as is, but it ain't my car!

I like this rationale

 :iagree:

Take the Butterflies off and come back next year and take the same photgraph in the same exact spot.
Then enter it on next years calender.

It's a no brainer then it'll be on it.

BTW, nice car!

FWIW...here's a picture of the car you're referring to.
It had a very interesting history.

I saw the "bass boat" at the Mopar Nats before the restoration. In the bright sunlight that thing was AWESOME!!! Now it's just a restored Hemi Cuda Convertible Still cool just not AS COOL AS IT WAS!!!

$405,000 would have been hard to turn down and the first thing I would have done is buy a 318 convertible clone it into a Hemi convertible and BUY A HOUSE WITH THE REST!!! WIN/WIN

Received the build sheet in the mail the other day. So now all of the documentation is complete.
