70 AAR or plain jane really clean numbers matching 71 with rally gauges and ac with good color combo...and don't expect much appreciation anymore....maybe will keep up with inflation. With prices peaking now, you buy to enjoy, not to make money. The market is for enthusiasts again..not so much for the investors and flippers. You asked for an opinion, so this is just my (humble amateur) opinion.

I think ultimately the question is how low do you expect to pay for a convertable, six pack , or hemi car?  :dontknow: How much do expect to put into it and turn a profit? :dontknow: And are you willing to be happy with the vehicle if you can't get the price that you are asking when you want to sell?

alright, i guess ill clarify. It would be more for my enjoyment, only reason i was asking about investment is i see the numbers matching cars brining a bit more, so i was just wondering if that is a specific criteria i should look for when buying my toy. Not doing it with the intention to sit on it and flip it, but to drive it and enjoy it.

Say you wanted to spend up to $50,000 on a cuda (yea, it wont get you a hemi) and wanted to do it as a semi-investment knowing it will only go up in value, but at the same time, maybe drive it on a weekend or two a month, what kind would you get? 340 matching numbers? 440 matching? 440-6 matching? Hemi basketcase?

You find me a 440-6 matching #'s driver cuda today for 50k and I'll buy all of them.

Hemi basketcases for 50K?   LOL   I'll buy all of them too.

Here's what I did with my "investment" Cuda today.......went to a local all Mopar show
about 40 miles from my house....smoked the tires thru 3 gears on the way out of the show...taught a ricer what the meaning of  the word acceleration is...one second he was about to pass my old Mopar at 60mph in a classic "ricer flyby"...and within 2-3 seconds he was 10-15 car lengths behind me and had no idea what had just happened.   LOL
Finished off the trip home by eating a C-5 vette in a stop lite contest (trophy bride in the passenger seat).

Forget about what "investment" potential these cars have and enjoy them for what they were built for...FUN!

Just my .02 from a guy with only a clone hemicuda.

Don't take it so personal....but you must be livin under a rock to think you can get a #'s 440-6 Cuda in driver condition today for that $$ number.

And a real Hemicuda for under 50K , even what you call a basket case? If you are even remotely in tune with today's market...you KNOW what a "R" code e body brings.

My point was that those $$ numbers were way under market.

Forget about the investment part of these cars and DRIVE them. If you happen to make some $$ on the way, thats great! But for pete's sake have fun with them!

Get a 70 or 71 e-body with as big of an engine as you can!!  Numbers matching will help retain value more than a non matching car will!!  High impact color is a bonus too!!

couldn't have said it better.

If you want something fun to drive and you want to hopefully break-even when you get out, go for a '72 - '74 'cuda and do it up the way you like. IMO, if you stick with factory type parts, you won't hurt yourself on the value. For example, drop a 440 six-pack in a '72 'cuda....not going to hurt the value much, so long as it looks factory. drop a chebbie motor in there and kyou will immediately be stripped, painted purple, and beaten with a large stick.  :spank:

I can tell you that I am more conscious about my car's value than I probably should be. I should spend the money, have fun, and build what I want. Am I going to be a little upside-down at the end of the day? Probably, but nothing's free!

If you're looking to flip a car w/o doing any work on it, I suggest the cleanest '72 340 4-spd 'Cuda you can find under $20k.

I think in about two years, you'll be able to get $30k for it.  '73s and '74s w/their police bumpers will be the last to appreciate.

'70 and '71s are sky high and not a good investment IMHO.

$50k?  I suggest using that as a down payment on a rental property.

Hey Hemi71.  Can you tell us something about your engine setup and are you running with a stock radiator for that "original" look? Thanks.
