Buy a 72 perferibly 4speed car, put the remaining $$$ into a hemi, suitable tranny and a dana...hasta look good as well...sit back and let everyone get sick of paying for 70-71cars and look at a 72, hemi, 4speed, dana car  :driving:

I think in about two years, you'll be able to get $30k for it.  '73s and '74s w/their police bumpers will be the last to appreciate.

Give me a few hundred bucks and an hour and those bumpers are gone, simple thing to change and it wouldnt effect the value in any way at all.

they arent police bumpers, they are 5 mile and hour bumpers that were required in 1973 and later on all vehicles. They are stuck out more and not right up against the body like the 70-72

Aside from picking the '70 or '71, I'd say make sure you can get the cleanest & most original car you can find. After that, look for a professionally restored car with excellent work. Avoid major modifications, bad repairs & try to make sure the body & drive train match, (VIN). Any incorrect mechanical part, deviation from original colors & options will hurt the value. It seems to me that any of the really expensive cars have a limited number of buyers. So even though the cars are expensive, there are only so many people who interested in them will be able to afford them.

Everyone hears about the 6 figure cars, the Hemi cars & the ragtops selling for insane prices, but in reality there aren't that many of them.

I'd have to go w/ the 70 Cuda vert #'s matching. I've seen 340's & 383's still well behind. The next two years or so.. you won't touch them under 75k imo. I'd look for a 70 Cuda 340-4spd vert #'s matching.. you'll pay, but they have far from peaked IMO.

So where would you guys think a '71 Grand Coupe Sassy Grass original 318 car might fall with the following details?  It will have a date correct 440hp motor (luck had it being date coded it pays to have a UPS man into mopars;D ) , having gilled fenders added, bulge hood, and be painted silver.  It will not be concours, but a straight and clean driver.  I have had quarter patches, trunk floor, and window channels all replaced with steel.  I'm debating on what interior to put in.  I am leaning towards some aftermarket seats and possibly autometer gauges.

What is the best "Mopar Investment"? Daimler-Chrysler Stock, of course! ;D

However, a good car to buy for a driver would be, if you want to add a little more to that 50,000, a 1971 or 1970 Cuda 340 vert. Its not going to appreciate much more, but it sure is a great car to drive.

I have never had the desire to have a Vert, the only reason why i would own one is either for the value or to sell it to make some money. Its too easy for people to get in and rip you off, plus when the weather permits to ride with the top down its 105 degees where i live,so the A/C would would be more attractive to me.Besides as i get older and hair seems to be thinning,I'd get a heck of a headburn and a red yamika

If I had $50k, I wouldn't spend it on an investment Cuda.  I'd by myself a nice 71 GTX (my dream car), and, with the money left over, start turning my Dart into a sleeper drag car.  But, thats just me.  I don't believe cars are investments.  I believe they are either A). appliances, to get you from one place to another or B). Toys, to have fun with. ;D
