Aside from picking the '70 or '71, I'd say make sure you can get the cleanest & most original car you can find. After that, look for a professionally restored car with excellent work. Avoid major modifications, bad repairs & try to make sure the body & drive train match, (VIN). Any incorrect mechanical part, deviation from original colors & options will hurt the value. It seems to me that any of the really expensive cars have a limited number of buyers. So even though the cars are expensive, there are only so many people who interested in them will be able to afford them.
Everyone hears about the 6 figure cars, the Hemi cars & the ragtops selling for insane prices, but in reality there aren't that many of them.
