I've always wondered why they call it Muscle Car " AND " Corvette . Maybe they don't consider Corvettes as muscle cars Whatever sells tickets.
Well, there is a story behind the name and selling tickets wasn't the main reason.
There was a show here this time of the year for many years that was called Chevy Vettefest or something like that.
After a while, the show had pretty much run its course and even the vette guys would admit it was very long in the tooth.
They were going to call it quits but still had a reservation for the convention hall for the next year. Someone had the idea to try to reinvent the show by opening it up to all makes. So they renamed the show "Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals". And the rest is history, I doubt anyone had any idea just how successful, a Pheonix of a worn out Chevy and Vette show, this show would become!!!
After the second year or so, they were going to drop the "vette" part of the name and just call it Muscle Car Nationals, but by now, the name and the acronym "MCACN" was sort of established, so that idea was shelved and it will be MCACN forever.
As the late Paul Harvey would say, "that my friends, is the rest of the story"!
