Coughing, misfiring.
« on: October 27, 2015 - 10:20:22 PM »
For a while now I thought I had bad gas.  Or old spark plugs.  Changed the plugs...no difference.  Put in better gas, still issue but some better.   Took the car over to,a friend who knows   More than I do.  He said take me for a ride.  I did.  Coughed, sputtered when other than just normal driving.  He said I know the problem.  Me surprised.  Went back to,shop, raised the hood, he popped off the distributhr cap and said feel this..... bushings worn out giving some play to the shaft.   :faint:   Ok, now looking for a distributor for the 440 with electronics not points.  Seems to be hard to find unless you go for the red top dist.  Not what I wanted to do.  Still searching.

last time I had those symptoms, had moisture buildup inside dist cap.  Put some vent
holes in distributor cap.

Im very happy with my Firecore dist and it will work with ecu box you are using.  I have the Rev n Nator now, but the distributor worked fine with my chrome box.

This is the model you can use, but you didn't mention which motor you have.  They make one for small block too. Nice thing, it looks stock if that is what you like.

Firecore makes a dizzy called the RTR which may fit your requirements.
dfrazz just put one in a 440 and seems impressed with it.

  Firecore is working great!  Contact Mancini or Ron Wilson (ron.wilson1@live.ca).  Ron is who I ordered mine through, VERY knowledgable and good guy on dodgecharger.com.

You can get the brown cap for a stock look, or black.
