I'm not sure but factory electronic ignition was not standard until 1973 by that time the 383 was long gone replaced by the 400? The experts may know but I'm pretty sure you're going to have to get a Mopar Performance unit or stick with a points type?

My suggestion would be to do like I did with my 71 Cuda when converting to electronic ignition. I bought a conversion kit which included everything (distributor, ecu, ballast, and wiring) I bought a harness for electronic ignition from Bill Evans (Evans Wiring) and then the bracket from Rocket Restorations that mounts the ECU to the back of the valley pan behind the intake. Converting back to original points type is a simple bolt-on and you haven't drilled any holes in your firewall. This also hides the fact that your car isn't "stock".

You can use your points distributor and convert it to electronic by taking the felt pad out, then the clip, sliding the cam off, then swapping all of the parts out of an electronic distributor. I think I just made the hole a little bigger where the wires come out.
