Seat latch update
« on: November 07, 2015 - 09:01:56 PM »
I posted on 11/2 a couple of questions regarding dash light bars and bucket seat latches---thanks for the pictures. Latches: ' 70 Challenger with black bucket seats--seat back would not latch down. Pulled seat--removed hinge covers--removed plastic seat back--removed hog rings in area around latch. Removed latch assembly from inside seat--one bolt in the side and two bolts in the back--access bolts through holes in seat frame. Found that a spring had come loose from its anchor point and would not allow the lock open position on the latch to lock. Returned spring to correct position and latch locked and unlocked correctly. Hinge covers are metal and I also found that the flat spring steel part that has the release plunger on one side and the release button on the other side had broken loose from its' anchor point. Original attachment was spot weld but I didn't want to risk damage via a reweld so I center punched the boss where the spot welds were and drilled and tapped for 10-24 screws--enlarged the screw holes in the spring steel part slightly and installed shortened brass screws with flat washers and little loctite. Reassembled everything and it all works great. Just thought someone else might need this info down the road.

Thanks for that fix, my release buttons are broken the same way, I think most of them are.
