Power Window Harness - Where To Get?
« on: May 30, 2005 - 04:48:14 AM »

Looking for a power window harness.

I bought ALL the harnesses needed for my Challenger new from YearOne. For some strange reason they don't sell the power window harness. It's a decent piece of loom too. Could be copied but that will take time and it's much easier buying a brand new loom.
Anyone know where it can be found? Yearone does not sell it.  :P :(

Cheers,
Carl

I don't think Totally Auto would have one but Dave, the owner might be able to point you in the right direction. They do lot's of awsome resto's. E-mail address is www.totallyautoinc.com

Good Luck :wasted:

NZ, have you tried contacting the folks at M & H Electric? They manufacture many if not all of the Mopar harnesses that Y1 sells. Although they don't list pw harnesses, they too may be of help. Actually it might be easier if i call them since you're 9 or 10 hours different than California. Just let me know. Excellent quality

Try this place

They made the aftermarket electric window regulators that I just recently had installed to replace the crank windows.

72 Chall,

What did you think of that kit??, I installed it in my Cuda about 3 months ago. Mine installed real easy and works great. I finally had to give up the search for a driver side regulator that worked.

Headway, I love it.
I paid too much for the install though- 600 bucks.
But they are lighter than the manual ones, the motor is real quick- might I say "hemi" like quick.
I also love the switch kit I got-
here is the link to the switch kit

I too bought the Electric Life kit for my 72 Cuda and am glad to hear you are happy with it. there was another guy on here that put them in his 72 and he complained that the current draw during operation was so bad, he recommended only using them while the engine was running.

I wanted the factory look and bought an OEM switch set but now am not sure they are compatible. The OEM switches I bought have the plugs and part of the harness on them. Some connections are double-lead and the guage wire is VERY heavy duty. It would seem the factory harness uses a LOT of heavy wire.

I will probably end up buying the EL switches and wiring.

Mike,

That's what I wound up doing, I also bought and installed the accessory power relay, (supposed to help draw less current). The switch kit I installed was Part Number 4990-10-142. Easy to install and looks decent too.

Mike, you are right.
Two days after installation- maybe up + down 6 times- they stopped working.
I brought it back to the shop and they put in a larger amp fuse.
No problems since then.

I don't think you'll ever see someone repop this.  Too rare and too much $$$ to make according to Dan of Dan & Sarah electrics.  No one makes the huge door grommits either.

Kinda of spendy, but looks cool if you're not worried about having to be stock looking, but you might be able to use this wiring harness and switches (which look somewhat like stock, only more modern and trick) from electric-life:

Has anyone got the stock power window switches to work with this aftermarket kit?
I want control of all four windows from the drivers seat, but don't want the modern looking electic-life kit.

let me know what you come up with on this. I have the EL kit and want to use the OEM switches. I know there will be a relay involved but would like to know if anyone has a schematic adapting the EL motors to the OEM switches
