Opinions on seats

Need some help to decide here, I'm very tempted to go with theese Porsche seats that I bought, if I do I will reupholster them to look like the stock seats (about) but in leather, it's gonna be expensive. My car is a restomod, gonna have a 6.1 Hemi, but I really like to keep everything I can stock looking, but I also want comfort, and theese seats are very comforable to sit in, and 6-way electric. I thought I could shave off about 2" in the front and reshape the necksupport to more match the stock seat.  Thoughts?


Also, my seats are vinyl, are the stock leather seats ribbed the other way? Is there more than one design on the stock leater seats? (I have seen other designs, might be custom). Was thinking if I get a back seat cover from Legendary, so it will match.

70 Leather the pleats run top to bottom & are about 3/4" wide... 71 Leather the pleats also run top to bottom but they are 1.5" wide...
Reshaping the front area of the bottom cushion will totally change the comfort, not sure I'd do that...

I agree with you....those seats need a little off the top.  Other than that they look good and give the lumbar and leg support needed in these old cars. 

Check with an upholstery shop to see how easy or hard it will be to modify them.

I found that design on Legendary's website. But what is this design in the picture? Is it custom? (Its a 70 Challenger).
You might be right about the front, I was just thinking looks.


I checked with one shop, they said around 2k. Waiting for some more quotes.

That is custom not OE...

I'd mount the drivers seat before you spend any money getting them redone. I suspect they might be to tall not giving enough clearance under the steering wheel. I say this because the passenger seat looks pretty tall?

Personally, I'd reshape the head support area by chopping it down some. Also, I'm with Brad on that you might run into a tight situation between the wheel & your legs, unless you plan on running an A/M column with a tilt steering wheel.

Looks comfy otherwise & definitely has some potential...You could always resell the Porsche coverings to recoup some money back to make the mods & pay for OE-style black leather.

Seat recovering isn't too bad to do as a DIY project, so perhaps you could shave some costs by doing the majority of the work yourself.

I say put it in, as in (driver's side) and see how it feels.
Looks great as it sits no to me.

Good input guys! I'm glad I asked. I'll do this, before I fix them up, I'll just spraypaint them black with leather color and use them for a while as is, so I really can see if they work. Didn't think of the steering column really. (they will come down another 1" about, there is some small brackets pointing down under the rails that I'm gonna cut).
They have some wear/tear and cracks now so I probably could not sell the covers anyways. I like that custom interior, like the horisontal pleats better than the stock leather design. If it takes me a while, I probably can come up with more cash to redo the back seat also. I got all major parts for the car now, except interior and final paint.
