I believe it is below the belt line like a 70. Most 71 RTs have the side stripes but if memory serves, it is as I just stated.
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

This is one of the few examples I can find of the above and below style. This 1971 Hemi car was supposed to be an original paint example.

Stripe delete was just that, it did not alter the fender badging/emblems. Not many of them around for sure. I have one that needs a full restoration and it shows the delete on the build sheet. :2thumbs:

Do you think the emblem placement on the two 1971 pics I put up is correct?

They sure appear correct from what can be seen in the picture. One way to tell for sure would be to find a shop drawing of the actual placement. I have not seen one lately, but sure there is one out there somewhere. Not 100% positive, but sure think the emblem placement is the same as a 70 RT. I can't give you any info from the car I have as I got it without fenders. I will check around and see if I can find out anymore for you and hopefully a few others will chime in on this one.

The only tricky part is to get the R/T emblems straight with the crease in the fender.   I thought I had it all figured out, but now notice that the emblem has a slight angle that is driving me nuts.   Take the extra time ......

I hate it when that happens. Every time you look at it, you see it.

71's seem to have two different emblem placements... The one posted above which is similar to the 70 placement and a second method where both emblems are below the main body line & the R/T is much lower.. Looks odd to me but it's documented on a good number of original paint cars..
