Infamous T/A...Mine Now!
« on: November 22, 2015 - 10:57:31 AM »
Well, I did the deed...traded the purple R/T for this T/A...FT6, bench seat auto, Gator Grain top. Only one known to exist in the T/A registry. I'm sure the T/A freaks like me have seen this car and/or know about it. However, there has been a ton of misinformation strewn about the internet about the car. While it's really cool and looks like a "barn find" (kill me now), it's NOT a survivor. Well, it survived a bunch of owners before me and some really bad body work, but other than that...

Here are some pics, then more fun info...

The good stuff: Matching numbers 340, year and plant correct trans (haven't checked the date), mostly original sheet metal.

The bad stuff: Car was butchered into a 4-speed 20 (?) years ago. One of the previous owners put it back to as-delivered with the bench and column shift. It would have been really awesome if he had put the dogs in the steering coupler back right. This may be when the driver's side floor pan got replaced. I'll know more when I pull up the carpet.

JB Weld, anyone? Just as it looked when I removed the column, complete with pin out like that.

Yeah, those guys are supposed to be rotated about 90 degrees. "Why does the steering clunk like that?" The bigger question is Why are previous owners not dead? At least they used a lot of grease.

Very cool car and just love the gator grain roof along with the bench seat and column shift.  :droolingbounce:  :woohoo: Only thing missing is an AAR to go along with the window decal, LOL.
