The older I get, the more I vow to not be afraid to tackle things I used to leave to pros. Lower core support was beyond repair, so...

Drilled out a lot of spot welds...

Out with the bad...

The one in the middle is the old, the blackone is the new Dynacorn and the bare one is from a 70 Barracuda...a bit too pitted for my taste.

I took the nasty kink out of the fender while I was poking around. Still needs a little finish dolly work, but it's mostly there.

Nice work!  I'm with you on your comment the older I get the less I'm afraid to work on things.  If I was not in a hurry to get my car back on the road I would probably have taken the time to learn to do bodywork on my car.  This is the only thing I can't do myself right now and I hate being at the mercy of these bodyshops.  I'm not saying the shop who is doing my car is ripping me off but there is no way to verify it actually took them X hours to do something.

Keep up the good work.

Very cool car, can't say I've ever seen that color on a T/A before.

Was feeling froggy yesterday and installed the new lower support...

Holes for plug welds. I later removed ALL the weld-through primer. I either don't know how to properly weld through it or it just blows.

Plug welds...

A little insurance bead across the top here, too...

Welding upside-down is fun.

More pics after I grind some more. Today I need to move more crap from the old house.

I think it's better to remove it even if it is a weld through primer... You did a nice job and no warping at all  :)

I use SEM copper weld through primer! sparingly, thin coat just enough to cover. heavy coats don't work as well. :2cents:

Yes, this is a good product. I have used it too.

I used the SEM zinc weld-through and followed the directions on the can: "Two WET coats". (I actually just hit it with one and it might as well have been a coat of silicone.)
