A Pittsburgh PA newbie...sort of.
« on: November 24, 2015 - 10:57:22 PM »
So, I've been a member of the site for years. Over the past years I've been mostly a lurker. I sold my '70 Chally to buy a '69 Dart vert so I was out of the E Body world for a while. Now it's time to get serious about my '74 Cuda that's been in the family for many years. It was a show pony in a past life and has had some updates over the years. Now it's time to make it more personalized to my tastes. I want to do some mild restomod to the car without sacrificing it's history. I'll be picking your brains on a number of issues like what needs to change to get rid of the "shin-buster" bumper guards and things like that. I hear it's not as simple as swapping the '70-'71 Cuda bumperettes in place of the eyesores that are on there now.
Here is what I 'm working with.
'69 Charger / '69 Dart convert/ '74 Cuda

nice looking car you have there    :2thumbs:  as for the shin busters, a lot of us swapped them over to a 70/71 bumper, imo it gives a much cleaner look. and, you can order them from Dave at Roseville with a member discount

Chrome looks good from here keep the bumper knee buster.  Only thing I would change is the color scoops on hood.
Match the color on scoop and paint the insert black. Get some color matched Rallye Mirrors, Purchase some BEYOND BLACK TIRE DRESSING.
Where in Burg. I'm from Baldwin..now in Maryland.

Thanks all. The compliments are appreciated. I can't claim anything on the car as being my handiwork. The car was restored back around 1992. It was the centerfold of the December/January 1993 Mopar Muscle. My dad added the dual quad setup a few years ago. Now the car is mine and it needs some updating. It looks really good but needs some mechanical attention. And I think the tires may be the same ones shown in the 1993 magazine pics. Kinda scary. I'll check the date codes on the tires next time I'm in the garage.

Dougs bs23-I was hoping the rear valance was the same and that a bumper swap would be all that was needed.

AARuFAST- IMHO the kneebusters ruin the looks of the car. Kinda like a supermodel wearing orthopedic shoes. As for tires-a few members have me inspired to put on 18"s for a more updated look. And I'm near Irwin, just east of McKeesport.

you can keep the valance but will either need new bumper brackets or cut and modify the originals to move the bumpers in.
somerset area originally now in MD also.
