Bass Pro Shops vs. Cabelas: Whose you're choice?
« on: November 27, 2015 - 10:50:01 PM »
New Bass Pro Shops recently opened nearby.
Place was incredible.

I've never been to Cabela's.
None in CA.

Are they better or kinda the same?

Mike, Fremont, CA.

Cabela's generally has better quality items and selection of practical items suitable for western hunting, especially textiles.  Bass Pro has a lot of cheap crap, and all the name brand items you expect from any outdoor hunting and fishing outlet.

Bass Pro is a lifestyle store that sells hunting and fishing gear.

Cabelas is a hunting store that sells fishing and lifestyle gear.

Bass Pro has a better restaurant and bowling at their stores, if that tells you anything.

Thanks, that explains alot in their differences.

Cabela's was always my favorite but we don't have any location of them here.
In the 70's, I used to get 15 page catalogs sent to me.

We have a Cabela's about 5 minutes from our house. I like wandering around in there from time to time. Good quality stuff for the most part.   I've been to Bass Pro in the USA a few times. It's ok.....

Merely an investment bank rumor started to pump stock.

We have both here in Calgary. Bass Pro has the grandiose style and the fact they sell boats (love the Tracker fishing boats) and also Arctic Cat. Wonderful collection of trophy heads. Large aquarium with huge trout! Beautiful store!

But, they don't sell handguns whereas Cabelas does (love my hand guns). Also, I make my own sausage and Cabelas caters to this more so than Bass Pro.

If you are a serous hunter then Cabelas is the place for you!

Your right duh! I forgot about that one been there a few times also. It's about 30-40 minutes away. Yep Cabellas put a new store in Barrie about a year ago. Nice selection of new and used firearms too!  :2thumbs:

Bass Pro put a store here in NH a year or two ago.  It's close, and it's ok.

But I prefer Cabela's.

There's one about an hour north of here in Portland Me.  That's a nice store.

But I swear the one in Hamburg, PA is larger, with a bigger selection.

(had to check: Currently, the largest Cabela's retail facility is in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, with more than 250,000 square feet (23,000 m2) of floor space.)

It's about an hour and 15 minutes east of Carlisle.  So the next time you guys are in town for that shindig, it'd be worth a detour if you had any sporting good money left to spend.
