The sixth digit in is an 8, meaning 1968. This has popped up before, I believe. It might have been a late 68 model that got titled incorrectly.

The sequence # is not that late...I'd say it just got titled somewhere along the line as a 69...thats a 340 car, you looking to buy?

what does the sequence number mean?

Basically like babies been born: Baby 1 is labled baby 1, Baby 2 etc.....

Just to keep tags. That number (or the last few digits) can be found on the cowl, rad support, dash, door (decal) trans and engine.

Yours won't be number 315215 made they start from either 30 (I think) so it would make yours 15215 or maybe 5215.

I'm not 100% sure sorry.  :)

The first car at that assembly plant that model year would be 100001, so yours is the 215,215th car built at Hamtramck Mi in the 68 model year. I'm guessing that would put the car about 3/4 of the way thru the model year.

Oh, BTW...NICE car...and......

Since it is an A-body, it will not have a number on the cowl. Look on the drivers side trunk opening lip instead.

T/Ake care,
