I've been reassembling the RV-2 air conditioning compressor from my Challenger. I've got 2 questions that I'm hoping one of you folks can answer:
1. There's a small bolt (roughly in the 12 o'clock position in the attached picture) among the 5 that are used to snug down on the crank bearing and seal that I think was an attachment point for a wire. I can't remember where the wire originated - maybe just a ground? There's nothing on my wiring diagram. I have to reattach whatever it is before I can put the clutch back on.
2. Best I can tell, there's no set torque value for the 5 bolts for the crank bearing and seal. The service manual indicates that the torque to turn the crank should be 10 inch lbs or less. If it's too high, it appears that the 5 bolts are supposed to be loosened up a bit until the torque is below the limit. In my case, this is just barely finger tight. It seems too loose. Before assembly, I wiped down the inside of the cylinders with A/C oil (PAC 100), but I haven't put anything in the sump yet.
I'm not in a big hurry to have the A/C working since, compared to when I lived in TX, Buffalo summers are pretty mild - but I do want to be able to route the fan belts through the A/C compressor pulley. Any help would be appreciated.
