How did they do this?? I just LOVE the way they refurbished the dash. Does anyone have an idea what they did?

Painting the wood grain panel is easy.  looks like they used a gold color, the raised areas on the switch panel are already there, so you just need the sticker.  As for the gauges themselves....they look custom.

Here is what I did with mine.

I would think the dash face would look wicked with a satin black or carbon firber overlay to match the black & white gauges

just noticed that while the gauges are 70 style, they eliminated the clock reset knob and the trip reset knob; clean but...

I don't think carbon fiber fits the overall style of the interior, unless you go all the way and redo the whole interior in a contemporary style.

Satin black, on the other hand, is something I was thinking of doing although I don't have a rallye dash.

...but those plugs scream "lazy".  :banghead:
They're probably original or hand-made faces with custom aftermarket mechanisms in them.  That would explain the backward-swinging volt gauge (major fail), 200MPH speedometer range, and missing second hand, which is another huge fail--why even have the enormous "seconds" scale/minimized "hours" scale with no second hand?  I realize this exercise is more about appearance than function, as is any of these rolling disasters by Troy or Chip Foose, but those hard-to-read dark-red needles would drive me insane.  I monitor gauges by needle position with my peripheral vision; those would make that almost as impossible as it is with digital gauges.

The devil is in the details.

Speaking of which, did anyone else notice the subtle touch in the bezel paint?  It's "grained" so to speak... the metallic has faint horizontal brush lines or "grain" to it.  That's freakin' beautiful.  Hard to believe they'd mess that up with those crappy-looking reset-knob plugs.  Overall I like the look, but they didn't quite nail it as a functional work of art in my worthless opinion.

Absolutely beautiful look, I couldn't agree more. I wonder what it would look like in black or anthracite grey...? :clapping:

As for the functionality - who looks at gauges these days anyway?  ;)

I saw the car at SEMA. It's gorgeous, lots of detail work. The article mentions Classic Instruments as the source of the gauges.

Agreed, the gauges look aftermarket / custom and spendy!! :money:

The look on the panel is not that hard.  The wood grain is just a sticker over a thin metal (aluminum?) piece that is attached to the plastic bezel.

You can strip the woodgrain sticker, prep and paint he metal piece any way you want.

I painted mine satin black and then went for a brushed look on the gauge surrounds.  I basically sanded it with a red scuff pad in a circular motion.

Here are a few pics.  The brushed finish does not show well in the pics, but you get the idea.

Dash looks good, Tuff wheel has seen some use  On that note, I recently wrapped my Tuff wheel with a "wheelskin"; ordered the same one for a 98 Dodge Ram; laced it on (I have done several) and am happy with the results.

I have always run Tuff wheels in all my cars when possible. I have a rim blow (huge), factory 70 and factory 73 wheels, but I prefer the Tuff Wheel. There are lots available, however know that the Grant challenger version (the cheapest) looks like it, but they are thinner than the factory version (I have one on my 52). They work and look good, but if compared to an original or an actual Tuff wheel repop, looks a little cheap. All that said there are some really good repops out there that are not crazy expensive (and there are some like Flaming River that are).
