Sorry, it's been a little bit since I took this apart (had foot surgery) but I got all my parts in and want to be sure I'm doing this right.  Gaskets get RTV'ed onto heads, then tray gets RTV'ed to gasket/block (on the ends), then RTV the top part of the tray and put the manifold gaskets on, then RTV the intake to that and bolt down.  Correct?

Here's the reason I ask; when I took the tray off last week, there was no gasket between that and the head....so it made me wonder if I needed to put them on again?

Correct.  I would suggest using gaskets to get a good seal.  Mine did not have any gaskets, but I did't want to take the chance.

While you have the intake off, use a tap and clean all of the intake and pan threads out to allow for proper torqueing.

RTV isn't rated for gasoline .  I suggest using Yamabond/Hondabond it is rated for fuel & works extremely well, It's what is used between case halves on motorcycles, they don't use a gasket just Yamabond/Hondabond....
