I don't post much but I do read a lot on here and now I have a few questions. I have a 74 Ralley Challenger that I'm going to do the 833 close ratio 4 speed swap from the 727 auto. I will be getting the complete swap kit form Brewer's. Here are a few questions that I'm sure you E body Mopar nuts can answer. Yes I'm one now too.
1) What all in the interior has to be removed to do the swap other than the obvious ( seats , console, carpet and pedal setup) does the steering column need to come out?
2) How hard is it to weld on the torque shaft bracket on the frame with the engine in and the steering column in the way?
3) What is the difference between the wood grained console top plate on the auto and the 4 speed? Brewers has it listed in my quote as needing to change it and it's $200 bucks?
4) I see they don't have anything listed on the quote for the speedo, what needs to be changed to run the speedo on the 4 speed?
5) Last question for now is with the close ratio 833 4 speed and 391 gears what RPM will I be running at 70 MPH? I do have my 323 gear I can swap back in if I need to, but I want to be able to light the tires up at will if I want. I'm also running a 360 LA with J heads and just a Comp Cams XE268H with .477/.480 lift. I plan on stroking it down the road but that's another thread.
Any help would and will be appreciated with my stupid questions and any advice on something I haven't asked about. Thanks in advance.
