1970 Challenger SE - 1st day of production
« on: December 09, 2015 - 07:51:26 AM »
Hello guys,

As some of you know already, I own a 1970 challenger SE 1st day of production.

the car is a 318 with a 904 transmission, Blue color and blue interior. No AC, lights package etc.

I was curious how much it would worth once restored (and i`m talking about a correct restoration) considering that i do not have the original motor or transmission.

thank you in advance!

After a full correct OE restoration...The car should be worth $20K-$25K. :2cents:

And the restoration will cost at least double that.   :2cents:

I feel like it's cool as a first day production car but with the 318 and the 904 it will never be worth a lot. I think this is a primo candidate for a swap, you would see it in the re-sale value too.

:iagree: but if the current drivetrain is original, stash it away somewhere.

He said he doesn't have the original motor or trans, so other than the 1st production day (which is kind of cool) it is just a non-numbers 318 '70 Challenger.

Doh! Missed that. Yes, then it kind of has curiosity value, but that's not worth a great deal.

cool part is 1st day of production. IMO I would built it with a big block or hemi, But keep it looking original, again if it was my coin. this is what I would do.

440+6 with a speed would give you a better resale value

BAM, in Europe, i think nobody cares if the Challenger is a 1st day production car, they don't even care if it is OE restored (to tell the truth, being a plain 318 SE Challenger isn't something too cool when you look at it). In Europe (most people) they just love to own a cool American Muscle Car. Dave is right, big block and a four speed, appearing stock (i mean R/T stock), is the key to success. I would pay a lot more money for a 440 Challenger clone (which i did) rather than a plain jain Challenger, which ultimately i would transform it to a R/T clone. Which is better looking?

We all like to dream but he may not have a huge budget.

This would look cool as a 340 car as well, not everything needs to be HEMI's and 440's and 6 speeds lol.

Couldn't agree more with you, a '70 340 'cuda is my other dream car, but if i had a '70 Gran Coupe i would clone it. And the value would be higher on the 340 even if it is a clone...

I'm a small block fan through and through. If I had money my dream ride wouldn't be a HEMI cuda that I would be afraid to drive but instead a Challenger T/A. Iconic, desirable, recognisable by anyone at a car show, not value prohibitive to dive...

So if I had a day one production car? 340, 4 speed, 3.23 gear or a 3.55 at most, Hood pins, Painted steel wheels with caps, blue on blue....it sounds like a dream ride.

It is a dream ride! That's how i would make my barracuda, if i had one  Except Plum Crazy exterior white interior and Rallye Wheels...
