Cerainly not what comes to mind when you think 'spring'.

Turning the sector shaft causes the spring to defect opening a fluid passage which allows the fluid to provide assist... A stiffer spring means it takes more torque to deflect the spring & open the passage... Doubling the springs works....

How do you tell if a reaction spring is worn out?
Do they wear out?

Are they a spring washer design originally?

Putting two together makes sense.
Hope it works out for you.

I have not idea if they wear out or is you could even tell.  I do now these have some snap left in them, so I think they are good.

Yes, there is a lot of easy to follow along info, nice and slow to absorb.
I complain every time a movie commercial is on TV , each scene lasts a miilsecond , slow down people.
The slide show and record is a hoot!

Funny thing, back when I did a few it was in stock at our local Napa.... No virtually nothing is in stock at the local Napa... Cept maybe Turtlewax...

Hey look what I found on my doorstep today!!



I was not expecting it until late next week!

Looks like reassemble will start shortly.  Well once I get the bearings out.

If your not reusing the bearings.  Use a punch from the other side and knock them out.  Mine came out quite easy actually.  I've got the housing all clean and just reversed  the process to get them back in.

The part I'm stuck at now is the worm shaft lock nut.  Have you figured out how your setting that?  the FSM has rope and all crazy stuff going on.

Any input would be great!!

Thanks for the tip...I have new bearings, so I will see if I can knock them out.  Did you press the bearings in?

I was going to try the FSM instructions for the worm shaft nut...I thought I would try it out on my spare box to see what happens and go from there.  At my speed, It will probably take me a few weeks to get to that point (I only get an hour or so a few nights a week to work on it).

I didn't press them in.  I just used a punch and small hammer and tapped them in slowly around the edge.

Oh...  Side question.  Do you have good pics of the reactor spring area?  I have some, but feel that I'm missing a seal on the bottom side.
