WIW 71 Curious Yellow 383 Cuda??

Seen this Cuda over on Moparts

"This is a real 71 Cuda, non numbers matching 383 correct date code, numbers matching original 3 speed but has a correct 4 speed Trans in it now.have build sheet and fender tag, car has been off road since early 80s The paint is very nice. Drives great.. It is a real Curious yellow car. Which makes it pretty rare. 39,500 b.o., all original sheet metal. Or Mopar trades"

As you can see, the car in the facebook pics doesn't look as nice as it does in the moparts ad. The facebook pics are of when he first got the car earlier this year. The moparts ad pic is after he had the car professionally cut and buffed. Supposedly the inside has been cleaned up too. Curious Yellow is my second favorite 71 color after Sassy Grass Green. I'm giving some serious consideration to jumping on this one. So I'm looking for some advice as to what all of you experts think of the value of this car. Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice.

I saw that on Moparts last night. 

The non-numbers motor and trans hurts it some, as does the non-option added items (IMO).  Its not priced to bad....based on his pictures...but I think a better deal would be $29,000 to $32,000.

If you are considering it. go look at it closely to make sure there are no hidden problems.....pictures hide a lot!

P.S......I would own it if it was priced right.

Sold my non-numbers 71 for $35k after the so called "experts" all chimed in. If he's not in a big hurry the right buyer will know it's a good deal (I didn't say great) You can stick to your guns and get your price if you have the patience. I'm living proof!!!

Thanks Ron. I was really interested in your car and I kick myself for waffling on it too long. I was kind of hung up on it not even having a FT. Thought I would always be wondering what did it really come from the factory with - silly I know. This GY3 car needs more work than your car, but it does have the FT, BS and owner documentation too - I kind of like that.

Do yourself a favor and wait for a similar 340 car.
If this car was a 340 it would be gone.

   And unless you know the buyer personally, anything other than a true project car should be inspected, either by you or . You NEVER  get the true condition of the car. I have a good friend that bought a car and it was supposed to be problem free, paid over 100k and the thing won't hardly run. Buyer beware!

I like it.  If you like it, inspect it, and if it passes inspection, make an offer.   Words are only good after verification.

Fully restored to an OE type standard, a 1971 383 3spd Cuda in GY3 is maybe worth $75K on a good day. This one is missing the original motor which means most high end collectors that pay that kind of money, most likely wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole. Means a "good day" isn't coming anytime soon for this car

So...this car is it sits would require at least $45K-$55K to restore it to the level I'm talking about.

Add that to his $39500 asking price and the result is obvious.

HOWEVER:
As 90% of you guys on here are going to say.....No sense making another trailer queen that nobody will drive...so why not just buy it and drive it as is.....
Well, if you do that and can be happy with a $40K car with lots of flaws, then go give it a very close personal inspection and buy it, maybe even for less then the asking price.....

Because....I'll tell ya.....you're not going to find a beater project 1971 383 3spd Cuda in curious yellow and get it to the same level as this car in it's current state for anything less then $39500 

You're not going to find a 318 Barracuda and clone it into this car at this level for $39500 either

I agree with Alan! and if the body is in good condition with no rust issues that alone is A 20,000 advantage.

Yep: Fun car to drive for a few years maybe depending on a personal inspection.
