Edelbrock 440 Victor EFI Cuda Hood Clearance
« on: December 11, 2015 - 01:03:46 PM »
Hey guys,

I was curious if anyone here knows if the Edelbrock Victor Efi will fit underneath a stock '70 Cuda hood with something like a Fast or Fitech throttle body on top? I'm debating between a Performer RPM with TBI or the Victor with MPFI if it will fit under the hood.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Mike

I was able to use the victor intake with an Accufab throttle body as it is only 1.7" tall under a 68 RR hood using a drop base 3" Air cleaner  if the t body is taller it would not fit

on the Cuda hoods, you can remove the brackets over the air cleaner, and give yourself more room
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Hmmm thanks for the replies. I've spent the last couple days on Google looking around and I haven't come across too many Cudas running this intake on a RB.

Just trying to decide if I should run my Performer RPM and go TBI or if I could squeeze in a Super Victor with the MPFI and if it did fit, would mpfi be worth the added cost.

I am running 440 with the Victor EFI and a Fast Throttle body on a 73 Cuda . Mine doesn't even come close to closing. I had to use a 1" spacer under the air cleaner to clear the throttle arm on the fast throttle body. Even with the drop base on the air cleaner it was not even close.

So what did you do to remedy that? Running around without a hood or did you get an aftermarket/modify your hood?

EDIT: I was thinking maybe an AAR hood would clear. I saw someone use a TA hood on a challenger since it has the elevated hood scoop, but I dont think the AAR hood offers too much more clearance.

I have done nothing yet. Jut getting finished with the build. I am sure everyone on here is going to boo me, but I am leaning towards getting a cowl hood. I thought about going with an AAR hood or I have a very nice flat hood and thought about putting a six pack scoop on it, Just can't make up my mind.

I have a nice bulge that is for sale. freshly painted rally red if anyone is interested.
