Yes, only 2 VIN options on a Challenger. JH standard Challenger (H= High) and the JS R/T's (S = Special). The higher horse power cars like Hemi's and 440+6 were all R/T's (JS codes). Obviously no Hemi or 440+6's in 72, but they did have JS codes for the 318's and 340's. 1972 was the first year you could get a 318 or 340 JS car. 1970 and 1971 a 340 could be ordered with A66 but it came with a JH Vin.
Actually you could get a 71 Challenger R/T with a 340
