Shaker intake manifold

I wanna replace the old 383 cast iron manifold to a new of  aluminum, is there anyone of them aftermarket that will fit with a shakerhood, Edelbrocks performer is 0.6" higher so that one will cause problem.

If you find an aluminum intake that is the same factory height, what benefits do you expect to gain ? A few pounds maybe ? :dunno:

You could always take a hack-saw to your Shaker base... :-X

Use a 440 baseplate.

I have 440 source heads and a Mopar Performance waterpump house and pump also waiting so I thought it would be nice to replace that intake at the same time, I already have a hacked baseplate will be replaced with a OEM and a adapterplate from Gene Gregory.

How much is the different between these two 383 and 440 baseplate, took me a year to find a 383 baseplate and 440 are even rarer?

I have a 383 and a Mopar performance m1 dual plane manifold and my base plate is too short, so I run a spacer on top of my carb to get my shaker to the right height.

If interested I can measure mine for you.

Another option is to mill the carb mounting surface lower if you have enough stock to do so.
Drop your motor mounts a little also.
A little here and there gets it done.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

A little here and there gets it done.
A friend has bought a Performer guess it will show up in Januari I have to do some measurement on that, I have also thought about made my own motormount brackets think I easy can gain a 3/8 there.

As previously mentioned, the Mopar M1 dual plane works great when you want to lose weight but keep a stock looking and stock height intake.  Everything I've read says that the M1 is nothing more than an aluminum version of the stock iron version.  It really looks stock when painted too, if that matters.  I'm running one on my 70 383 Roadrunner with Airgrabber hood and the air cleaner fits the hood perfectly.  The Edelbrock (non-RPM) Performer intake looks VERY similar but you'll want to verify its dimensions.  One last thought, if you're running the shaker now, does it look like you can run a 1/2" taller intake and the shaker still have room with the hood?  Worth a measure.

I should visit a friend this weekend but it messed up, I'm home taking care of the dogs, he has a 383 with M1 and I would have done some measuring on it, can you give me those numbers I should really appreciate it.

Edelbrock performer is 0.6" higher than stock, today theres a fiberglass baseplate mounted over the A/C raised as much as possible and with big cuts to free the compressor, the bubble sits so high so it rubs the hood, really hope M1 is the way to go.

Just found this " unlike the old P4529118 which is an aluminum copy of the cast iron intake." so now the hunt has started for a P4529118, thanks for all help and support given to me here.

How exactly do you drop the motor mounts??    I have an LA 360 topped with Edlebrock Performer Air Gap intake manifold and Edlebrock Carb.    The Mopar Performance Air cleaner is not going to clear.   So how do you "drop" a motor mount??   

ALso the Mopar Performance air cleaner is a bottom plate, air cleaner and then the top plate.    Can I simply Cut 1 inch off the filter itself??   Would that still leave enough surface area for the air flow??   Or is there a "shorter 13" air filter I can use??

I will fabricate my own brackets that attach to the engine and make these sit a little higher on the engine, first is to measure how much room I have between the K-frame and the oilpan.
