Any interest in a Power Window Relay Kit?

I was speaking with a member about the benefits of relays for power windows for B, C and E body cars.

The kit would consist of 8 relays, 2 for each window, and be set up essentially as plug and play using correct Packard 56 connectors at the motors. Some finish termination would be required at the provided supplemental fuse block to tailor wiring to each car.  Enough wire would be provided to make a clean installation.

Same build quality as my other relay kits, using as many components sourced from the US as possible. Pricing would be in the 250-300 range depending on brand of relays used, Picker relays on lower end, Tyco/Bosch on the higher end of price scale.

Would there be any interest in a kit like this?  Thanks for any input.

In every old Mopar I've added relays to the power windows it's made a huge difference, they move faster, they travel fully from stop to stop & the real beauty of adding relays you take the load off the switches & the bulkhead connector..... All the original wiring does at that point it trigger the relay which draws less than .25 amp.... The original design puts about a 10 amp load on the wiring, unless someone is trying to run more than one window at a time then the load goes way up, more than just 2-4 times you'd expect cause as the load goes up the voltage available goes down....  Now the windows have an isolated circuit capable of feeding all four windows & not slowing down....

It's a nice option when they work,especially with a convertible...  To bad the original design was so poor... But giving them full power makes them almost as good as modern power windows... If we could just get the one touch feature I'd be happy..

If you would like a kit, I would do a Tyco/Bosch relay kit for $275 as an introductory price + shipping.  That would be a savings of about $25 from the normal expected pricing.

Thanks to those that have ordered a kit.  I have material on the way, should be able to get started building them on Wed or Thursday.

I've also decided to only do kits using Tyco/Bosch relays.  Just not worth the potential failures of the lower cost relays to justify the difference is cost and my reputation for providing high quality products.

            Your providing a really great product and service to the Classic Car community. Anytime a relay can be used to upgrade outdated electrical systems is a good thing.

A picture of the kit I built for a member here.  This kit has a 6 gang fuse block instead of the normal 4 gang because the car has both power windows and power top.  The power for the relay set ups is provided from the block.  Each window has an independent 20 amp circuit and feed wire.  The fuse block is fed by a 10 gauge wire from the starter relay.



Mount relays out of the way from any moving parts in door, plug relays in series into the OEM packard connectors, attach two ground wires, mount fuse block, run power wire from starer relay to fuse block, route window power wires following OEM paths, terminate at fuse block with provided terminals and plug them onto the block.  Ready to go.

Let me try and find a wiring diagram for a Power Sunroof.  I can likely put something together for that as well.  If you have a wiring diagram handy, please send it to me. 

With the sunroof car, if it also has PW, I'd send a 6 gang fuse box to supply power to the sunroof.  Try to keep it as compact as possible

I have this...It actually shows two different wiring set ups, with with PW and a Sunroof, and one only a sunroof....

  Not to hijack the thread but how hard is it to convert over to power windows. just tracks brackets and motor, or is there a difference in the door panels? if it not too bad of a mod I want a set.
