I wanted to talk with my cousin before sticking my nose in this! he worked for AMC in kanocha Wisconsin in the mid 70's. the paint came in barrel's with mixers, they would change the hose for the color that was listed on the broadcast sheet. they used A water fall system, and the painter would normally purge the gun pointing it at the water wall. sometimes the painter would purge the gun in an inconspicuous place. he has seen mistakes made ware A car would get painted the wrong color. and would get pulled off the line and would get sanded and sent back to be repainted. I once had A ford tempo that was black, I had to fix it for ice falling off of A roof. the top surface's were all paint checked. roof left door and mirror were damaged. the owner asked me if I would strip the hood and trunk lid while I was at it. under multi pal layers of black I found A teal paint as the first color. code was black! inside the door I had apart was black inside. I crawled in the trunk, deep in the engine compartment, all black deep in ware no body would be Abel to reach doing A color change in A body shop. I was sure that car was one of those mistake cars. and that was when my cousin and I first had A discussion about thing of this matter.
