For those of you who watched last season GYC
« on: December 18, 2015 - 08:52:21 PM »
Is this the same car that the guys from GYC worked on? I believe the owner only wanted them to do the body work and then they delivered the car to the owner who was going to do the rest of the restoration. The episode I am talking about has Mark Worman delivering the car and then going inside to race the owner on a Hot Wheels track. I cannot remember the guy's name but he is an avid Mopar collector

Very close friend of mine Chris Driscoll is the guy you are talking about.  Not sure if that is his old car in the link, but he is the one that had Grave Yard Tards (his words, not mine) do the body / paint on his AAR.  I know he sold it but thought it went to the East Coast?

Chris is a great Mopar / car guy.  Has some neat newer cars too (couple Vipers).  He makes the BEST margaritas I've ever tasted.  And his wife Sue gave us the best cookie recipe and now I weigh 10 pounds more.  I love cookies (and margaritas)!  lol  Here's some photos of Chris & Sue with us at our beach / car show weekend.

Chris Driscoll also has EPIC Hotwheels tournaments.  He's the one who gave me the idea to build a scale Hotwheels track / Bar in my game room.  Here's a photo of one of his tournaments.

And after looking closer at the car int he link I don't think that was his.

Did he know the quality of restoration they did (the true quality)? He sold it due to poor work or he was gonna sell it anyway ?

I don't think he had any plans to sell the car when he took it to them.  I went over to see the AAR and was really not impressed at all.  He had them do two cars (a 71 V Code) and the second one he went and got and is finishing himself.  Well, right now he's trying to fix all their mistakes.

That's a bummer, if i remeber correctly in the episode, he said that Chris Driscoll had this car in 1980, sold it and then bought it again later to restore it.

Hey Cody, what were the issues with the work they did on the car?

So many things wrong it's hard to know where to start.  Right now Chris is trying to replace all the Tru Value hardware that GYC used with correct factory nuts and bolts.  Everything on his car that was original was taken off and lost, used on other cars, or sold.   He had to buy a bunch of stuff that they lost.

I just stumbled on an episode of GYC and Tony from Tony's Parts. I thought Tony was going to slap Mark (several times). Mark was typically arrogant and visibly uncomfortable having Tony there upstaging him. This was the episode where they were looking at the Daytona and the reported "NASCAR Special" 66/67 Charger. Mark was of the opinion that the NASCAR special was a real car whereas Tony doesn't believe it as there isn't any official Mopar documentation to prove it.

On the last episode, worman's trivia question was FY1 yellow on A dodge in 1970 was called what? his answer was top banana. according to the paint chip book in 70 it was called banana. in 71 it was called top banana. not the first time he got something wrong! :clueless:

Oh man that sucks especially for somebody over emphasizing originality  :banghead:
