I just stumbled on an episode of GYC and Tony from Tony's Parts. I thought Tony was going to slap Mark (several times). Mark was typically arrogant and visibly uncomfortable having Tony there upstaging him. This was the episode where they were looking at the Daytona and the reported "NASCAR Special" 66/67 Charger. Mark was of the opinion that the NASCAR special was a real car whereas Tony doesn't believe it as there isn't any official Mopar documentation to prove it.
I thought that was a nice episode. Tony is a really knowledgeable guy, making Mark Worman seem like a newbie...

Seemed a bit tense there at the end when they were essentially arguing about that NASCAR special deal.

I don't think it's anything Nascar Special, it seems just modified by a professional...

Yea I agree, but old Mark was trying to cast doubt on it saying it had been in publications etc. It does look like a nice car though.

regardless of whether it was a "program" car or not, it is a very nice, rare and well done car. I "think" the issue was trying to make it just that much more special by being one of supposedly 85 "program" cars. I guess if you are looking at all of the Hemi cars of the same vintage, you are looking for those things that sets your car apart. Also I suspect that since it is modified, the owner wants to try and remove any concept this this is a hot rodded car or some project that detracts from the value. If it was done as a part of a program, it increases the value. If it was bubba and cooter done it decreases the value.

With the car having ties to Norm's and with there supposedly being 85 of them built under this Nascar program a simple phone call to Norm should have cleared everything up. I agree with Tony that it's not a factory car. Mark has his head up his rear regarding the references to the car being in publications; one it is this particular car referenced in those publications and two just because it is written in some recently produced book doesn't mean it's factual.

That being said. I do love watching the show every week, mostly for the cars, but I really loved the recent episode when Alyssa took the 2008 Challenger out for a spin. I thought for sure Mark's head was going to explode.  :roflsmiley:

Just wondering what the Chrysler brothers paint code is for the gloss Krylon black they used on the horns for the hemi Charger they ended their season on? Anybody have a guess. Bring it on!

Guy, owners name of the '70 Hemi Charger, posted here the progress and updates when they were doing is car last April.  There was a big list of things that were wrong, broke, and that GYC forgot when he got the car.  Guy said Mark did work with him to get it all fixed, including overnighting parts and paying for everything.

Very close friend of mine Chris Driscoll is the guy you are talking about.  Not sure if that is his old car in the link, but he is the one that had Grave Yard Tards (his words, not mine) do the body / paint on his AAR.  I know he sold it but thought it went to the East Coast?

Chris is a great Mopar / car guy.  Has some neat newer cars too (couple Vipers).  He makes the BEST margaritas I've ever tasted.  And his wife Sue gave us the best cookie recipe and now I weigh 10 pounds more.  I love cookies (and margaritas)!  lol  Here's some photos of Chris & Sue with us at our beach / car show weekend.

How about a pic of your track set up?
