I can't wait.  Love all of them.

I even really like the clone wars and the star wars rebels.  they follow quite well with the whole story line.

I finally saw this movie the other day and boy was I disappointed.  I thought it was by far the worst Star Wars movie yet.  The acting seemed good, no complaints there but the story line was horrible.

Villain:  If you're going to have a villain shouldn't he at least be a scary bad@ss.  The main villain in this movie looked like some long-haired high school kid dressed in goth.  He was certainly hilarious looking but not at all frightening…….and then he gets his butt kicked by some girl who had never been trained in the Force whereas he's had extensive training….really?

Weapon:  Wow, they couldn't come up with something better than just a bigger version of the death star that could shoot further.....seriously?  Then, they stepped from science fiction into fantasy with the weapon operation.  I mean, sucking in the mass of a star that has a mass hundreds of thousands of times greater than the death star could ever have, that's just silly.  Then there's the shooting a light-speed, beam weapon that gets to its destination and magically separates into a number of smaller beams to take out multiple planets from one shot.  I'm just an engineer, not a scientist but I seem to remember a few things about mass and momentum that would likely make such an event pretty much impossible.  Seems like a lot of modern day sci-fi screen writers wander back and forth between science fiction and fantasy like they're almost the same, they're not!

Hero:  Where the heck did the scene with Fin fighting the pissed off storm trooper come from?  Obviously, there was some pretty important background story line that had been dropped.

Ending:  What the heck, the whole movie focused on finding Luke and in the last scene Rey finally comes face to face with him and then…….nothing.   If I didn't know better, I would say that last scene was a staring contest between Luke and Rey to see who would blink first.

It's unfortunate that Lucas sold the rights to this franchise, at least he knew how to make a good sci-fi flick.

I was also disappointed with the movie and agree they had made a bad choice for the villain character for sure. I didn't like the Fin character either.
Hopefully this next movie is better, how come they didn't show any Luke Skywalker in this new trailer?

Rogue is a star wars story.  Taking place at the same time as the death star and darth vader.
Rogue has nothing to do with Luke or the main star wars movies.  Nor does Rogue show vader.  So he is probably not in this story line either.

Rogue will be a live version of the animated series "clone wars" and "rebels" with star wars stories that take place in similar time but not with the main star wars characters.

I thought they'd pick up and continue from the last movie with Luke next. Is this Rogue One next in line and considered to be the next big Star Wars movie?

I don't think it's intended to be near as big as the actual movies.

Just a side show to keep those who follow along happy.

6 seasons of clone wars. 125 episodes.  Takes place mostly between Episode II and Episode III.

2 seasons of star wars rebels so far.  Of course this is a disney thing.  So the Star Wars name will be pumped out for years to come since disney is involved now.

This new movie will just be something to keep that name going.

I don't watch movies.  One or two a year.  I saw road warrior and star wars.   Figure I'm kind of a star wars geek since I know all this crap.

The movie "Rogue One" actually takes between Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) and Episode IV (A New Hope). Rebels are on a mission to steal the plans for the first Death Star. I imagine they're the same plans that Leia loads into R2D2. See FAQ in the link below.

Rogue One will just be a side shoot movie to start expanding the Star Wars universe. from what I've gathered, they'll be doing a bunch of these in between the primary storyline/characters. this will allow them to experiment a little with other characters in that universe to see who gets popular (aka: who gets a part 2) without hurting the primary storyline/characters. there is certainly MORE than enough material for them to go off of (which is why I dislike that they chose to go the route of remaking Episode IV into this new one .... they could have done a MUCH better storyline. yeah, let's do ANOTHER deathstar because the others just weren't cool or big enough)

It's actually supposed to be the same plot. It's the same story, just different chapters. :2cents:
