This will be my shop. I bought this place three years ago. The barn is 105 years old, 35 x 55 with I guess about a 20 foot extension built on which I will rip off and build another extension. The entire building is post and beam and doweled together. There are 55 foot, 8 x 8 pine running under the roof along the top of the walls, the hip of the roof and along the peak. 10 x 10 pine supports going up to the roof supporting the roof and hay mow. I plan to rip the old barn board off (and sell it - I guess there is a big market for it) and sheet it in with tin - replace the roof and pour a new floor with in-floor heat. I will blast all the support structure and apply a wood sealer and plan to build a loft from pine log around the perimeter. I tried to convince my wife we should build a barn-house to no avail...if any of you have ever looked at some of the amazing barns that were converted into houses you would know why I want to do this.
Hey there is two of us from Calgary lol.

No, that's the Ottawa river in the background. My farm in Quebec. We have about a mile of riverfront -  Just a beautiful place.

Wow, I love seeing pictures of everyones garages!  Right now I have a one car garage and two collector cars, so the project Challenger is going to be compromised for a little while until I can get my act together.  Please keep the pictures coming (we may have an old post on this same subject as well, will check).

ps: onebadfish, what part of the country is that beautiful lake?

That's the Ottawa river - not a lake. Farm is located between Bryson and Campbell's Bay on highway 148.

Rock on I know where that is.

My Aunt has a cottage between Quyon and Norway bay off Gold Mine road. Right near the old Mine pile.

Hey - I know exactly where that is! Norway Bay is a great cottage area! Nice sandy beaches on the river! The old mine was thriving back in the day....

Yeah for sure they are a bit before Norway bay I guess they are technically in Bristol but I didn't know if you would recognise that. For the majority of my life the area has just been cottagers and farmers. Cool area with lots of cool history. I try and stop by the Shawville fair once a year.

for taking this this topic so far off track when I get home I will post up a picture of my garage...

That is awesome! I had visions of doing something like that in my second (new) shop but it went awry quickly as I had more crap that could be organized and made to look cleaner, not to mention my wife thinking this was just another place for cold storage..
