I might have to get one of those, for traveling and perhaps jumping a vehicle. I wonder how the smaller units do for jumping a vehicle.

much cheaper on amazon

I don't carry any spare parts, just channel-locks and a screw driver. Unless I just changed some part of the car - then I'll bring the assortment of tools/parts required to fix that specific job.

In 20+ years of driving my Barracuda the only parts that have failed are a starter relay, distributer pick up and starters (due to heat from headers). The only other thing I`v ehad is carb problems recently with the crap ethanol gas, I seem to need to rebuild it every year now.  :pullinghair:

Strange though, the only thing that has failed in my Challenger is the starter relay too. Although I have only been driving it for two years.

Mine was a crappy aftermarket one.

I agree with everything that has been said previously.  What I do is if I go on any long distance shows that I drive to, I keep a spare alternator, starter, caliper, distributor, pretty much anything that a regular auto parts store would not readily have on hand.  After witnessing a friends charger at a charger meet have his alternator fail and fry some wiring at a meet in PA, he had to order an alternator at Napa which took a day to come in.  Fortunately, a friend of his who drove up from Texas to the meet lent him their spare and he was able to do all the tours and such during the meet.  Since then, I've learned to carry what I can for the just in case !
