We were discussing rear wheel size, what fits, and tire sizes in another thread...it came up that there might be a difference between the cuda and challengers rear set up ie one might have more room for a bigger rear tire because of the rear wheel well being bigger :dunno:....I cant find any info on this....can anybody help and shed some light on this???

I do know the Cuda had a 108" wheel base and Challenger 110".  The difference was made up in the floor before the rear seat.  Maybe someone has specific measurements of the rear inner fender area.

General consensus I have seen on Challengers is that 275 wide fit easily (what I have on mine) 285 fit but are tight and 295 can fit but lips most likely will have to be rolled or trimmed.

One thing to note is that not all fenders and even the rears are exacting in location. I believe these manufacturing variations are what keep the "what will fit" threads active. No concrete yes or no answers.

I've had 295's on two Challengers, my current one I ran them with the stock spring location, stock axle & 15x8 Road wheels... 99% of the time they were fine, full tank of fuel plus luggage in the trunk and take a corner fast you'd get a slight rub...

My observations has been that the rear wheel openings on the Challengers are slightly wider than the 'Cuda's.  Regardless of either car, 275-40-17s should fit no problem with proper backspacing... the YearOne 17x9 rims are perfect front/rear with 275-40-17 tires... its all in the backspacing and OD of the tire that makes the biggest differences.

Were running 275/40 17s with the 1 1/2 inch dr diff spring relocators. Easyly have room for 2 inch wider tread.  :2thumbs:  IMO the 275s are to short, don't really fill up the wheel well enough. Oh well, they prolly won't last long.    :burnout:   :burnout:   :roflsmiley:
