70 challenger color
« on: January 10, 2016 - 01:03:26 PM »
Just made a deal on a70 challenger I've been after for a couple years. It's a340 a66 car. Solid and complete but in need of resto. It's been reprinted white , bur according to fender tag is a ff4 car with vj9 bumble bee stripe. Is this somewhat rare combo ?  Any pics out there . I'm no expert , so nut is appreciated.  Thanks

I'm guessing your VJ9 is actually V9J  which would be a "Chartreuse" Butt Stripe... Certainly not common... Honestly 90%+ of all the Butt Stripes you see/saw back in the day are/were black or white... Any colored stripe is uncommon & nice to see...

Good Score!!

Yes v9j chartreuse stripe. I plan to restore to original. Also has chrome tip dual exhaust, hood pins, and rt badges ???  (Prob not correct for 340 a66 car ??! ).

Sturgis S.d.          I'm really excited about this car, not an expert by any means ,so I'm trying to learn as much as I can.   I haven't got the car home yet , it's at a family friends . Too much snow . I can't wait to get started on it and appreciate the input .

1) There is no way to know how many cars came in this color combination because Chrysler didn't track stripe colors.
2) I currently have 9 FF4/V9J cars in my records. Several are 340 cars so it's possible I know of this one already and it would be included in those numbers.
3) V9J is not chartreuse it is Sublime. Chartreuse would be the color for a longitudinal tape stripe.
4) A66 cars came standard with bumble bee stripes. R/Ts came standard with longitudinal stripes. You could get the other stripe option at no charge if you wanted, or delete the stripe of course.
