RIP David Bowie
« on: January 11, 2016 - 07:27:49 AM »
Sad to read this news this morning,

(CNN) David Bowie, whose incomparable sound and chameleon-like ability to reinvent himself made him a pop music fixture for more than four decades, has died. He was 69.
Bowie died Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer, his publicist Steve Martin told CNN.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief," said a statement posted on his official social media accounts.

Seems like my high school era musicians are dropping like flys these days? I guess it will steadily increase as I get older....

I was shocked to hear that this morning.

I guess he kept his cancer diagnosis under wraps for 18 months!

Very sad.  Not a huge fan but I likely a few of his songs.

Glad to have seen him, the Sound and Vision tour was just David being David rather than one of the on stage personas.

Still... :drunk:  :ylsuper:

Music was a lot better then, than it is today.
Bowie put a lot of entertainment in his songs.
His music lives on......

Saw the $25 ticket stub & had to search for a date... I figured mid 80's but see it was 1990...   Saw allot of concerts in the 70's & 80's... In 94 Pink Floyd tickets cost me $130... Pretty well quite going to concerts after that.....  Same time from a guy I worked with bought four tickets for Barbara Streisand... $500 per ticket.. :22yikes: :screwy: not my cup-o-tea but whatever floats yer boat...

Oh RIP Ziggy

He was in a movie, :"The Man Who Fell To Earth"
If you ever get a chance - netflix or whatever, this movie rocks! Yeah, it's 70's slow as you can imagine, but it really is worth watching. It really is that good.

Bowie played the alien. To perfection.

yeah, it's that good.

I've been a fan of David Bowie all the way back to 1972.  A matter a fact, I have two of his albums.  The Rise and Fall A Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars and Hunky Dory.  I am sadden that I never took the opportunity to see him concert.
