Motor not level ? Hemi

    OK, this is bugging the crap out of me. The Hemi in the Challenger when you look at it from the front is tilted up on the left side. No one else really notices unless I point it out. We looked at many Hemi Cuda's and Challengers today at Mecum and it appears it's more a Challenger thing than Cuda. But they all to some degree appear to be crooked. Is this normal  We also looked at several shaker cars that the shaker line up in the hood was really bad. High dollar collection cars.

  When we installed the 340 in my Cuda we put a level across the top of the valve covers and made sure the car and engine were both level before tightening the motor mounts. 
Worth a look maybe?

I recall you mentioned during your build that you used an aftermarket engine mounts?

That would be my first suspicion.

Probably Schumacher mounts.

I'd say that is because builders bolted all the motor mounts parts together tight and then installed the engine. If you leave them all a little loose, you can manipulate the engine to make it level, then torque them all down. However, it is not easy to do in  any way, shape, or form as space is limited and especially if you have headers installed, darn near impossible without an assortment of  extensions and swivels.

Ok, let me say it, in an episode of Graveyard Carz, there was a tilted engine. I will try and search the episode but I remember Mr Worman did what HP2 says, he unbolted some engine mounting bolts and he raised the engine the other side. He fixed it as I remember.

It would bug the hell out of me too. I would cut and reweld one of those mounts to fix it.

                 Yea I'm planning to remove the right side bracket and slot the holes @ the block.

I think this would lend to another bonus of mounting the hemi on the Kmember before putting in the car.

Easy access and you can check the level before putting in the car. Even if you found it was off, it's fairly easy to pull the kmember get access fix and problem and you are on your way!!!

That's what I did. I let the engine tell me where it wanted to rest level.
