On a '70 the tach wire goes through the bulkhead connector (spot #20). Just looked at a '73 wiring diagram... Same thing.

Not on a Challenger. Separate wire with it's own hole and grommet.
Sorry OP, don't know exactly where it is supposed to go. I just drilled a hole where I wanted to put it.

Hold on, bud.

There's a specific place for it. (there's a dimple where the hole goes.)

Actually... now that I think about it, I may have tach wire and clutch safety switch mixed up in my firewall-hole-drilling recollection...

The factory tach wire setup plugs into the firewall bulkhead... and then connects to the neg on coil. Gray w/black stripe wire.

There's different ones depending on BB or SB... (length of lead)

Checked and it is located in the bulkhead.

I will try and look on my 74 tonight and report back what I have.
If not tonight tomorrow then.

My tach Grey wire w black tracer  went thru firewall in its own grommet  like the service manual shows .

Mines a 73 rallye 340 auto car.  I traced it in the harness the best i could and it went to the grommet .

I could be wrong  :2cents:

My glorious hand model pic shows where the wire came thru , see below

'73 is a separate wire with it's own grommet. Any other year, I have no comment.

Uh oh! Too late! I already drilled the holes. I drilled them in the right place and installed the grommets already. You really can't see them to well anyway as they are behind the brake booster. Thanks for your help everyone.
