This car bid up to $57,000.00. No sale, bid goes on. https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/FL0116-230669/0/1970-Plymouth-Barracuda/Automatic/
I'd bet that high bid was not "real money". Mecum and probably other auction houses also play this game you have to watch out for where they shill bid a car up to close to its reserve hoping to get a real bidder to bid, and that next bid would hit the reserve. The reserve on that car was most likely between $58K and 60K.
Car looks nice, don't get me wrong, but I highly doubt people really bid a green auto cuda 340 to $57,000. With the buyers premium, taxes, etc, that would mean someone was willing to shell out well into the 60s for it. No way! If real bidders really did bid it up that high, the seller would have been nuts not to drop the reserve, and take the money and run!
