good riding shock?
« on: January 19, 2016 - 06:55:45 PM »
I did a long search here and there are many different shocks recomended. I am looking for shocks that give an overall good ride. I have gas shocks now (not sure of brand) and the ride os pretty hard. If i hit a large bump, i feel it.
Which shock will give a good ride and handle good also?
I have FF upper control arms, Fast ratio arms, front and rear sway bars, frame connectors. 17" wheels with 245/45 tires (if that matters).
Your experience is greatly appreciated.

I'm using QA1 double adjustables and really like them. You simply dial them in for ride quality or firm for handling. They are pricey though, but anything good usually is.

Bilsteins are really good and fairly affordable.  I have Fox Shocks on the way from Hotchkis only because I caught their holiday sale.

I agree with Frazz.  Bilsteins are a great shock that are affordable.  I ran fox shox on my racing motorcycles and it made a huge difference in lap times.  If I was in the market, that is where I would be looking today.  I currently have afco adjustable shocks on my cuda now that I got through XV motorsports.  I love the ride quality!!!  Firm but compliant.  I was easily able to dial them in to how I want them, and still have more adjustability for racing.  It all really depends on your budget.  The more you pay, the better you get.  Usually.  Those KYB gas adjust shocks are crap.  Tokiko suck too.

Not necessarily. It all depends on what you will be doing with your car and how much you can spend.  The bilsteins are not adjustable and work very well.  The adjustable shocks can be adjusted to what you want.  And then some.  Don't waste your money if you just cruise.  If you drive hard, and love to play with suspension, then go with the adjustable.  Be ready to pay up. :money:

Can confirm, I had them on my car and it was definitely rough. However, the whole suspension was in need of a rebuild so I don't know how much you can blame the shocks.
