Okay, all the hulababoo is over, I have finally brought the formerly FC7 N96 shaker 4 speed six pack home. Not a pretty sight because it was sitting out for 9 years. But the important parts are intact, and floors are solid, being a CA car (note the non-chrome tip exhaust valance). I felt like I was uncovering a dragster from the early '80's! (1983 was the last time the car was registered). The hood will be one of the first items to go, however it is straight and good.

Got along with the car, a never bored date coded 440 HP block, date coded 18-spline Hemi trans, as well as an six-pack intake (man is that thing HEAVY!) Along with a pistol grip shifter. The 440 in the car is a '69 HP block as well with a race 727.

The main concern I have is the roof which was stepped upon at one point, but no one attempted to push it back up. There are no rust holes but the metal feels on the soft side (when I press on it, feels like aluminum cans), so I'm not sure if Challengers are known to have malleable (thin and flexible) roofs? I will be looking for advice on repair. Im hoping to not have to chop the roof out, but keep the original metal. I was just glad to get the car under cover!

The cleanup process will start with cleaning out the interior junk and carpets. The mess of wiring under the dash will also have to go.

Got some more pics of TropicalCats' 383 R/T (which admittedly is in better shape than this 6-pack, but I am happy with my decision). Richard will probably post them for a closer look on that car.

Thanks for making me feel welcome to this incredible group! Kudos to all of you guys!

The car wasn't made into a "official race car" (rollbars or cage), but it was modified obviously at one point for street drag. Probably after someone stole the original six pack motor and shaker hood stuff!  :madvibe:

Remember back in the 70's and early 80's we'd see street dragsters ON THE STREETS and no one screamed "Go to the raceway!"

I'm just glad the previous owners didn't do anything stupid like mounting thick drag tires and ruining the quarters!

Nice find, that will be a sweet car when restored!Bad news is your roof is probably pretty close to rusting through if it is that soft, water probably puddled up and sat in there doing damage. You can either patch it or replace the roof skin(what I did on my cuda) without too much problem.

Congrats, thats a great car to restore. You probably will have to replace the roof, but the rest of the car looks pretty solid. Does it have a fender tag or broadcast sheet?

GREAT FIND!  How in the world did you come across that one!
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Yes the car has a broadcast sheet. I posted it in a different post. Came with the A33 track pack, 3.54 Dana (still in car) factory painted dog dish steelies, stripe delete, and standard non-remote mirror. I haven't looked behind the dash yet for any additional copies. No fender tag found (so far).

How I came across this was when I bought the 383 R/T (the one TropicalCats is currently buying), and when the owner told me "I have a six pack out back", I just couldn't let that one sit. Two weeks later after getting the 383, I discussed with the owner and we made a deal for the six pack car, and I gave back the 383. I look forward to seeing the 383 cleaned up and on the road soon (right, Richard!)  :grinyes:

Yeah, the plan is to have a body shop look at the roof, and see if it is saveable. If not, no biggie. Just want to make sure I've exhausted all options before cutting it out.

That's U-Haul stuff you always get equipment with out of state plates.....

The car was(is) in Sacramento, in Northern California.
