70 Challenger R/T 383 price?? PICS ADDED!!!!
« on: June 05, 2005 - 06:50:47 AM »
Hey guys...I am new to the MOPAR world and am actively looking for a 70-71 Cuda or Challenger as are most people.  I am used to buying Shelbys, mustangs and Bosses but these E-bodies are new to me.

I looked at a 2 owner 70 Challenger R/T, 4 speed, Hemi-orange yesterday.  It is a matching numbers car, as I found the ID number on the block and the cars history is documented.  Rebuilt powertrain about 6000 miles ago, pretty much unmolested original except for some air-shocks and cragers.

PROBLEM...RUST.....This is a northern car.  Figure on replacement of quarters, fenders, rear rails..one side, traunk pan, rockers, floors, firewall patch around the brake booster, inner fender aprons need some patchwork....you get the idea.

Car runs and drives and has original paint.  Pretty original car right down to the carb.  Has the door sticker, dash tag and fender plates.  No build sheet has been located.  Rallye dash with tach, and floor console.

Price Ideas???  Right now it would be in the 12,000 range.

I'd buy it at that price, not bad as described except for the rust; aka how bad.
Make sure the frame rails are solid, undercoating??

I've been blessed with almost rust free Mopars, sounds like that one has all the typical rust areas.

Are you looking for a project? Good body man or mechanical skills...

Mopars are fun to work on, easy except for getting good parts, and a ball to drive.

The price is climbing fast...it's on Ebay.  $14100 with 1 hour to go.  Compared to the car you found Tropic.....this one has a lot of rust issues....A LOT.  I think at 14K plus I will sit tight and wait.

I viewed this car on Saturday...had $13,000 CASH in my pocket thinking I would make a play...but the rust on this car is significant.

Final Tally was $14750, it looks like it is going to Canada.

The owner was forthcoming with the info, but if I hadn't viewed the ca, or spoke with him.....I probably would be upset with the condition.

I am no stranger to rusty cars, and EVERY panel needed to be replaced or messed with.  In fact he even told me this....
