Interesting. I never thought about dealer-installed option.

I'm picking up an OEM mercury-switch based lamp (out of SOME kind of 70s Mopar) and will post pics if I can figure out a way to mount it to the hood without it looking too out of place. :-)

Was able to find the lights. They are mercury ones from something like a Cordoba from way back when.

Mounted them on the cross bar. I do not recall if I had to drill the holes or not. I assume so but its been too long ago...
Screwed one on to show position. They look right at home in there.

Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

I can't see pictures you posted, just a black box with an X through it.  :dunno:

OK... So this is definitely a pentastar-stamped, OEM mopar, mercury-switched lamp. Same setup as trunk. one hot lead in, grounded by connection. Comes on when it reaches X degrees angle.

Not sure where from, though. PN 4607096.

I'd say it's from the 70s, though. Or at the least, it doesn't look any more modern than that.

I'll post pics once I get it wired up. :-)

With just about every phone out there having a very good LED flashlight on it, I can't say I have any desire to add a hood light to my car.
Always charged enough, very bright, mobile, no extra wiring... :dunno:

Yea the lights on the phone are great but then you only have one hand left to do anything because it won't stand or attach to anything.

Yup. Never seen an under hood light that was bright enough for anything other than identifying where the under hood light is.
