lca pivot shaft

Is there a good way to remove the pivot shaft without a press? They are in good condition, can it be reused or should I buy new ones?

You can burn out the rubber bushing with a torch :villagers:

I've never had one that was in a condition that justified replacement...  A press makes the job easy but you could use a bottle jack, a heavy truck & some Oklahoma engineering to get the job done....

Where are you located? Someone close might have a press..

I had to do this also.  I was not fortunate to have access to a press and am a rookie at this.  However, I was able to work a larger wheel puller through the torsion bar opening and pushed the rubber and pin out. I later learned that you need the cup when using urethane bushings.  Ironically, my method had not removed the cup and I was able to reuse it without removal.  If you plan to replace with OEM rubber than you'll have to remove the cup.  I saw an article in Mopar muscle that included tack welding a washer onto the cup which made for a point to pull/push.

I recall having fits trying to get them out until I applied some penetrating oil, at that point i put the big nut back on & clamped it in a vice, worked it back & forth quite a bit before she slid off.

I've since bought a press from Harbor freight for about $100.  I've used it for a variety of bearings, bushings and ultimately the pivot shafts so it paid for itself pretty quick.

Same here.  Getting the metal "can" part of the bushings out proved to be a major PIA.

Dave - are you planning to add stiffening plates to the LCA's?

If you're interested, this is a good video on inspecting and adjusting the LCAs.

Thanks for the video, I'll have to inspect mine. Yea I actually made my own stiffening plates from extra 16 gauge I had laying around. Same design that Mancini sells
