Is your friend from Red Deer, Alberta because that is where it was 4-5 months ago when I saw it up close. It was at the EG Car Auction and I spoke to the owner. Car was restored by RK Motors and purchased by the owner I spoke to in 2009 at Russo and Steele for $130K USD. Owner felt the car was worth $150-$160USD today, and set the reserve at the Red Deer auction at $200K CDN. It failed to meet the reserve as the high bid was $150K CDN. From the outside that car was very nice, engine bay could use some detailing and there were numerous in-correct items. Owner seemed to be in it for the investment as he had a couple non-mopars for sale as well.
Done you think the fact that RK did the resto holds the value back? I did not and still have not seen any proof of numbers matching engine. If I was selling a vehicle I would at least include a photo of the engine serial number.
Ya that is more then likely the same car. He mostly has Chevy's and a couple Fords, this is the only Mopar. I believe he preferred a 4spd car when he bought it.
$200k Cdn is only $140k USD? So that honestly doesn't seem too unrealistic if that's what he was asking.
We are heading Barrett Jackson this week so will be seeing how the market it this year. Can't wait!
Anyway, he has't asked me to post here, just thought I would put out a feeler in the event someone is looking before he sends it State side.
