That particular car was interesting, I had a 74 Roadrunner at the time that I was having painted and I needed a driver. A buddy and I went to a local GM dealership who was having a indoor sale (ND in the winter..) as we knew all of the car lots and the car community was relatively small back then. I knew one of the sales guys and told him I was looking for something cheap; he responded that he had "just the thing). So here was this 64 SS sitting in the back of the service bay; hugger orange with a black interior. Everything was there and in very good condition; exterior trim and badging, interior complete with console and if I recall a factory tach. Price was $150 and the engine was pretty tired but it did run and drive so I bought it. I was approached by one guy later who wanted the trim for his car (no repops back then) and my boss who wanted as a dirt track car. I was working at an exhaust place at the time and told both that I needed the car until my RR was done. A few days after I had purchased the car while I was at work (which was on main street), this guy came in and asked "who owns the 64 SS", I responded I did. He asked what I had paid for it, I told him that it was none of his business and why he wanted to know. He told me he had sold the car to the car lot because he needed the money but loved the car and wanted it back. I told him he could have it back for $300 in a week when my RR was done. He complained he didn't have any money etc but that he would try. I told him what my boss wanted to do and the guys started crying. I felt bad, but life had to go on. So in the end, I took the battery out, sold the trim and badging (and I think the interior) to the one guy and the body with drive train to my boss who made a roundy rounder out of it.
