Interior dash trim piece lower left of gauges
« on: January 25, 2016 - 01:16:16 PM »
Does anyone have a source for this part?  This is a 1970 dodge challenger rallye dash.... I need the black trim piece to the lower left of the gauges.  If you can even tell me what it's called that will help.

I've exhausted my google searching efforts!

This one has the little groove along the edge which is correct for the Cuda but not for the '70 Challenger.  You need one with no groove along the point like this one, but don't pay that price.  They're cheaper than that.

Does anyone know what year the fasten seatbelt light came on the dash for challengers?  I've  put a rallye gauge cluster like this in my car with what I'm pretty sure is a 70 dash.  I've mismatched some parts, as this is not a OE restoration, and it looks like the 70 trim piece mentioned above is different than the later ones.

Wondering what the differences are and how I will know which one will fit with what I have.

Never mind, looks like you answered the question for me after looking at pictures on Tony's website.  The 71+ challengers and 70+ barracudas have the little groove along the edge. 70 challenger is the only one that does not.

That seat belt light only came on 1970 cars. It was part of the option code C15 on your fender tag and broadcast sheet.  It was part of a seat belt option that came with Deluxe Seat Belts, belts that were all the push button type.

Very interesting! I learn something new everyday.  Unfortunately I don't have a fender tag or a broadcast sheet. It was a /6 car and the previous owners didn't pass those along

70 challenger is the only one that does not.
The '70 pieces are all usually unique to the 1970 year. 71-74 are usually common to each other.

Not exactly correct... 70 C15 used a seat belt warning light that was similar to the reverse light used with a 4spd & it mounted near the ash trey....

73-74 used a seat belt light that mounted on the instrument panel bezel....

Anddddd that's a bingo! That's what I have, thanks for the picture. This confirms that I have 73-74 rallye cluster in a 70 dash. I thought so..

Thanks fellas

Not exactly correct... A dash mounted reverse light, as mentioned for 1970 only C15 deluxe seat belts would have only had the dash mounted light if the car was coded with C15 and was NOT specially equipped, like an R/T Challenger, Challenger or Barracuda and `Cuda that did not have special interior with a roof console. If the car would have been mounted with a roof console and you had either an R/T SE, SE, Gran Coupe or a special interior in a `Cuda - Leather or Salt&Pepper cloth inserts. The seat belt light is part of the display on the roof console........ The exception to this would be all Convertibles with C15 for 1970 only that could not have a roof console because of a folding roof frame.

That's what I love about Mopars. There is a lot of  complication but you can sort it out eventually.
