1970 Cuda Convertible Trunk Brackets
« on: January 25, 2016 - 07:04:02 PM »
It appears the studs that hold my trunk hinges on are gone. Does any one have a decent photo of that area. I've seen them a 100 times but never really paid much attention to them and I don't have another car nearby to look at. Is it just a piece of steel rod. Anyone know the diameter and length? I know what the snap washers that fasten then look like.

Hi Chris,

So it appears that you are missing the hinge pins from your trunk hinges, maybe a fellow C-C.com member can help out with a pair, surely someone would have replaced their trunk hinges as a whole unit and have their old rusty hinges that they could knock the old hinge pins out of for you..........

Can anyone help Chris out please. The pins he needs are shared on hardtops and convertibles, and any year E-body either Barracuda or Challenger will work.

Chris, Can you post a picture of the pins you need please buddy.

Thanks,
Kenny.

Any set of rusty brackets off a parts car car should work. If anyone has a set please let me know.

Could they simply be turned up in a lathe?  :dunno:

Hey Brad,

They could be turned on a lathe. But Chris does not have a pin to take measurements from as a reference or even have access to a lathe.
We just figured a set of rusty hinges laying around would be easier to track down to knock the pins out of.

Thanks,
Kenny.

Thanks heaps Brad,

I can take dimensions of the pins i have here and send that to you to go by if that helps, i do not have spare ones myself or i would have already sent him a pair. If that is cool with you, i can measure them up on the weekend, unless someone else chimes in with a spare pair.

Thanks again mate,
Kenny.

Thanks guys. I'm not in a huge hurry for them lets see if I can come up with some pieces from a rusty parts car before we go through the trouble of making them. I've reached out to a few people that have or had parts cars in the recent past and I'm waiting to hear back. I appreciate the help and I'll keep you posted.

FWIW those pins are used as hinge pivots on A, B & C body coupes & sedans  too so the search for a donor can be widened quite a bit...

Looks like a buddy of mine is sending me a pair off an A-body. So I should be all set.
